Portland Tarot Study Group

In this meeting we will focus on the meaning and attributions of the second Sephirah on the Tree of Life, Chokmah.

The Tarot cards related to Chokmah are the four Twos. There will be a brief discussion about how the Twos relate to the Four Worlds. We will spend most of the first hour comparing the images on the Twos from the Tarot decks that have grown out of the Hermetic tradition such as the Rider-Waite-Smith, The Thoth Tarot, and The Golden Dawn Tarot. In addition to the Qabalistic influence of Chokmah on the Twos we will look at how astrology, numerology, and color symbolism relate to the imagery of each card. We will continue to use Robert Wang’s book, Qabalistic Tarot, as our main text. (The second Sephirah, Chokmah, and the Twos are covered on pages 60 – 66).

The second half of the meeting will be spent doing practice readings related to the Twos.

Although the Tree of Life will continue to be the focus of study for one meeting each month, people new to Tarot or Qabalah are welcome.
